Janet and Ruben Robles have had their store Michoacan Produce Market at this location for over 2 years.
YO! Mateo youth advocates implemented our third store makeover of Michoacan Produce Market in June 2012. We removed a huge alcohol ad from around the refrigerators in the store! Ruben re-painted the wall and hung a beautiful woven tapestry where the alcohol ad used to be. He also mounted a marlin fish where the framed Budweiser ad was before!
We converted the front area of the store into a produce section and set up new display stands for all of the non-refrigerated produce. In order to do that we had to set up a new aisle fixture for all the canned and boxed items that used to be in the front area. (That was hard!)
We separated all of the alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages into separate refrigerators, reduced the number of refrigerator doors displaying alcohol from 3 to 2 and increased space for water, coconut milk, and healthier beverages.
